Angelina Jolie will get her directorial debut with In The Land Of Blood And Honey after all, even though the project was temporarily stalled in October 2010 after rumours that the plot followed a rape victim that falls in love with her attacker. In the end Angie cleared up the rumours and managed to get the all important film permit.
The movie has been shot in two versions, and English one and a Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian one, and is due for release in the US on December 23rd 2011.
The real plot of the drama sees a couple trying to keep their relationship alive throughout the 1990’s Bosnian War. Speaking of the project, Jolie said, “The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it’s also universal. I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war”.
One of the hardest jobs for the 35-year old actress who had a dual role of writer and director for the movie was coming up with a title. She said, “You want to find that title that really helps the audience know what they’re walking into.”
There isn’t too much information about the film as it seems to be all under wraps, so if a Bosnian love story interests you, head down to the cinema just before Christmas.
